WHATS NEW IN CASH CARDS?

MR Music Foundation now selling Weis Gift Cards too! Along with the Giant Gift Cards, Marriotts Ridge High School is now selling Weis Gift cards as well. The new order form is attached or can be found next to the drop box in the music department.

5% PROFIT FOR STUDENT ACCOUNTS: For every Giant or Weis gift card you purchase, your studentÕs account will receive a 5% profit. (i.e., every $100 = $5.00 profit). The order form is available next to the drop box by the schoolÕs music office, and is also attached. Please fill out the form and instruct your child to place it in the drop box by each Tuesday. The orders are filled and distributed every Thursday. The profit from ŅCASH CARDSÓ purchased through the Marriotts Ridge High School Music Foundation using this order form will go into the studentÕs account whose name is written on that form. For instance, your neighbors, relatives, and family friends will be able to support your child by purchasing the cards via the order form and the profit from those purchases will go into your childÕs student account Š an easy and painless way to pay for this yearÕs spring trip!

5% PROFIT FOR GENERAL FUND: For every gift card sold at school events the Marriotts Ridge Music Foundation General Fund will receive a 5% profit. We will not sell any cards using the order forms at school events, so that the general fund may profit as well.

HOW DOES THIS WORK? We simply purchase Giant or Weis Gift Cards at a discount and sell them to you for face value. The 5% difference between the discounted price and the face value is profit for our music department students. ThatÕs all there is to it! There is no limit to the number of cards you can purchase from us Š you just shop as you normally would, pay with the gift card, and the profits go into your studentÕs account. There is no fee for using Giant or Weis gift cards. The Giant Gift Cards can be redeemed at any of the Giant Food and Pharmacy stores operating in Maryland, Delaware, DC and Virginia. They may also be redeemed at MartinÕs, Peapod, and Stop&Shop. The Weis gift cards can be redeemed anywhere in the continental U.S. They are both non-refundable and are not redeemable for cash, but may be redeemed for any prescription purchases. The Giant gift cards may also be used to buy other department store gift cards that are offered at Giant i.e. Best Buy, Southwest Airlines, Outback Restaurant, and many more. The cards never expire and are not assessed with any fees

FAQ about Citrus Fruit

Where can I find the latest forms for Citrus Fruit Sales? The links provided below provide the latest forms which are also available from the forms button on the main menu.

How fresh is the fruit? Usually the fruit is no more than 5 days off the tree when it is shipped. Depending on distance and delivery request the fruit should be no more than 10 days old when delivered.

Why is the smaller fruit so much sweeter than the large fruit? Each piece of fruit on a tree is given the same amount of sugar. The smaller fruit has a more concentrated sugar content and therefore tastes sweeter.

What happens if the fruit is spoiled when I get it? The fruit we receive has a high sugar content which means that spoilage can occur. When you pick up your fruit, check it and if you find any spoilage it will be replaced before you walk out the door.

How long will the fruit last? If stored in a refrigerator, or in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place with temperature between 40-50 degrees, citrus should retain its flavor and juice for 30-45 days.

How much fruit is in each box? It depends on the size of fruit in the box. The bigger the piece of fruit, the less that will fit into the box, and the smaller the fruit, the more in a box. For citrue, boxes will weigh approximately 20 or 40 lbs regardless of the number of pieces in the box. Since we do not sell by size, but by weight only, you will receive a range of sizes upon delivery.

What is in a Variety Pack? The variety pack contains 32-34 pieces of fruit. It is approximately 20 lbs and comes in a 2/5th box. There are 16-20 navels on the bottom layer, 6 grapefruit and 10 tangerines on the top layer.

How do I pay for fruit? All fruit orders MUST be pre-paid. Checks, payable to MRHS Music Foundation, are preferred but cash will be accepted.

How do I verify my fruit pickup date and time? You will receive an e-mail from us a few days before the scheduled date confirming date and time. Should we experience any problems or lengthy delays beyond our control, we will send out another email as soon as possible the day of delivery. These emails will come from mrhsfruit@yahoo.com. Please be sure to add this email address to your list of contacts in order to avoid our email going into your spam folder.

What if IÕm unable to pick up my fruit? If you are unable to pick up your fruit during the scheduled hours, you MUST make pick-up arrangements with your student sales person. ALL fruit MUST be picked up on delivery day. Any fruit not picked up will be donated to local charity. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.

How can I get more? Ask your student sales person for our next sales date.

How can I receive information for next yearÕs Citrus Sale? Provide us with a mailing address and/or email address and we will be sure to add you to our customer database!

Holiday Cabaret

Our Jazz/Mads/Women's Holiday Concert is just around the corner. The fabulous Mrs. Davey has agreed to chair this project again for us this year. Here is what we need from you!

Parents:

Sign up to help out with this event, if you remember last year, we need lots of hands to make hot chocolate! Mrs. Davey may also need some helpers to coordinate setup and clean up. If you are available to help with these, please respond to Mrs. Davey and let her know of your interest.

Students:

Last year the Mads went over to Weiss and sang carols in exchange for some amazing platters that were donated by Weiss. We are trying to work out the same arrangement with Weiss this year and perhaps Giant/Safeway/Walmart. It would be wonderful if we could offer lots of holiday music to our community as a thank you for their support. Mr. Ellis and I will be giving more details about potential projects as they come up. So be ready!

Again thanks for your continued support and I look forward to this amazing season of great music and winter bliss! (its just takes a few snow flakes to get us all excited :-)

A word about the Spring Trip from Mr Eberhardt

I just wanted to take this opportunity to discuss our planned spring trip to Tennessee. I know there has been some discussion of canceling the trip due to lack of response from our students. We are very pleased to announce that we have over 170 students who have committed to the trip. With that number we feel that our community still supports the impact and importance of these trips; so we continue to move forward. All the performing groups will still perform on the trip, chorus, band and orchestra.

As always we expect more students to continue signing up for the trip once we get through our winter programs and we hope to still be able to accommodate those students. However there is no guarantee that we will still have room for the students that decide at the last minute that they would like to go. So get your permissions slips and deposit in ASAP. We should be able to give a more accurate pricing break-down and itinerary in January. Please be on the look out for that.

We still need your help because the music department depends on the support of our Music Foundation to continue to present our students with amazing musical opportunities. Please spread the word about our concerts on December 3rd & 4th at 7pm. One thing that we have yet to do at MRHS is get a full audience for our performing arts groups. In order for us to continue allowing such large proceeds from our fundraisers to go to our student accounts, we must increase the number of tickets that we sell for our concerts. The winter concerts are always a hit. In addition to the two concerts on the 3rd & 4th we have a Holiday Jazz Cabaret featuring our jazz combo, jazz big band, madrigals and women's ensemble on December 16th in the commons. This is another wonderful event to invite your holiday guests to. Our patrons program and concerts are really the only fund-raisers that we use to protect the integrity of our programs and to allow us to bring in clinicians, concerto competitions, trips to senior homes, band competitions and so much more. Please help us continue to strive to put Marriotts Ridge High School on the map as a leader in fine arts.

We look forward to an amazing winter concert season and our spring trip 2009.
